Day 89 - Floyd Olson House

Floyd B. Olson House — 1914 W. Forty-ninth Street (between Morgan and S. Logan Avenues).

This unpretentious house was the residence of Floyd B. Olson, governor of Minnesota from 1931 to 1936, whose father was Norwegian and mother was Swedish. A popular governor supported by the farm and labor movements during the (Great Depression, he was reelected by many of the same people who voted for Franklin I). Roosevelt in 1932. Olson died in office after having been nominated to run for the U.S. Senate.
